Special Pet Projects
In honor of Tootie's Retirement, we will be posting a variety of free Pet Projects during the month. Our first projects were printable pictures of Tootie and her Fax Cat Trainees and they appear below the second projects - Dog and Cat quilt blocks.

Dog and Cat Quilt Blocks
Our second set of free projects are a set of dog and cat quilt blocks that can be turned into star blocks.

Dog Block

Cat Block

These two quilt blocks rely on fabric selection and button placement to turn a very simple quilt block into a dog or a cat. (They are labelled just in case you don't see the difference. The surprise is that you can combine 4 of these blocks into either a "Star of Cats" (shown below) or a "Star of Dogs" block. We think they'd make great corner blocks or alternating blocks to combine with any of the pet fabrics we've highlighted this month.

Click on any one of either of the blocks, or the star block below, to go to a page with more details, a few more options and some very simple instructions.

Tootie and her Fax Cat Trainees
Our first projects were printable pictures of Tootie and her Fax Cat Trainees. The original images have been manipulated with photo software to have a painted, watercolor look. So, if they look fuzzy to you, that is the intention. (We hope you like the look.)We have created two sets, one set with words that can be printed on paper and used as Greeting Cards and another set with no words that you might like to print on fabric and use in a pet-themed quilt.

Greeting Card Images - download version
Suggestions for printing: You'll get the best results if you download the first set of images below and then print them from a photo or word processing software package. This is because these images have been created at 150 dpi so they'll print at higher quality than from a web page (which will only print images at 72 dpi). From your software these images should print at about 3.5' wide by 3" tall. To download any image, right-click it with your mouse and choose "Save Image As" or "Save Picture As" and then specify where to save the images.

Greeting Card Images - web page version
If you can't (or don't want to) download and print the images from other software, use this second set of images. They are linked to web pages that we've created for printing the images
at 72 dpi (normal web page quality). They won't be as high quality, but they'll look pretty good. To get to the web pages, just click the link below each image.

The web pages have been designed with no additional words or buttons, so the desired image is about 3.5" high by 3" wide in the upper left corner of the page (like a stationery graphic). If the image doesn't print high enough on the page, you might need to adjust your browser's Page Setup. Also, if your browser prints a header and footer, you might want to disable that feature before you print the image. (Since there are no buttons on the image page, the image is presented in a new window. To return to this page, just close the new browser window.)

Images for Printing on Fabric
Suggestions for printing: Click the desired image below. Two images will appear on the resulting web page so that you can print two images at once and conserve fabric. If your browser is set to print a header and footer, you might want to disable that feature before you print the images. (Since there are no buttons on the image page, the image is presented in a new window. To return to this page, just close the new browser window.)

If you wish to print just one of the images, click the image below. Once you get to the web page with the two full size images you can download a single image to print - just right click the desired full-size image and choose "Save Picture As" or "Save Image As". Then print the image from a photo program or a word processing program.
