Bali Pops and Tonga Treats Batik Strip Sets
If you've been in our store lately, you've surely seen the gorgeous batik strip sets and the numerous projects we've created using them. These batik strip sets typically have 40 2-1/2" strips (full fabric width) of a selection of coordinated 100% cotton batik fabrics. Pattern and book designers have embraced these sets and designed many projects specifically for them.

We've offered the Hoffman Bali Pops online and now we're adding Timeless Treasures' Tonga Treats. In addition, you'll find books, patterns and project ideas for these strip sets scattered throughout the page.

Tonga Treats are Timeless Treasures' offering of 40 2 1/2" wide, 44" strips of batik fabric. Each Tonga Treats collection ($34.98) includes 2 each of 20 fabrics. We offer three of the Tonga Treats collections from Timeless Treasures below. (Pardon the shiny reflections in our photos, these are packaged in plastic.)

As with the Hoffman Bali Pops, we've had lots of fun playing with these and using them in projects. We have two purses models to show which feature these fun strip sets and offer the patterns.

Designer Computer Bag pattern

The Designer Computer Bag pattern ($9.98) offers a stylish way to use some of the coordinated sets of 2 1/2" wide fabric strips that are so popular right now. We made our model using the Tonga Treats Coffee Cake collection of 2 1/2" wide batik strips from Timeless Treasures.

Here's another purse model, made from the Coffee Cake Tonga Treats. This one is based on the Sonoma Swing Bag pattern ($9.98).

Bali Pops strip sets and projects
Hoffman Bali Pops strip sets ($34.98 each) are their 100% cotton Bali Batik fabrics in sets of 40 strips that are 2 1/2" wide. These have been a very popular way to get an assortment of the beautiful bali batiks to use in a scrappy project. One of the latest Bali Pops strips sets, Cappucino, is shown to the left and offered below.

The original Bali Pops strip sets and patterns have been around long enough for us to create quite a few samples so we'll start by showing you projects featuring each of the original 6 Bali Pops sets. We even have some patterns that were designed specifically for these colorful batik strip sets.

First up, we have the Bali Bags pattern, shown right. The pattern cover picture shows the Bali Bag using the Sherbert Bali Pops strip set (sorry it is no longer available). The Bali Bags pattern ($9.98) - creates a 12" wide by 11" tall tote bag featuring fabric covered clothesline.

Our Bali Bag pattern model, shown below, is made from the Mint Chip Bali Pops set (sorry it is no longer available).

Sizzle 'n Pop book

Trish Stuart is one of several designers who have embraced Hoffman's Bali Pops strips sets by designing projects specifically for these beautiful batik strips. Her book, Sizzle 'n Pop, includes one quilt for each of the original Bali Pops strip sets, as shown on the book's back cover pictured here.

The Sizzle 'n Pop book sells for $19.95.

Strip Therapy - Bali Pop Dynamic Duos book

Brenda Henning's Strip Therapy book is subtitled Bali Pop - Dynamic Duos because her patterns instructions yield two quilts from each Bali Pop strip set. Using her technique, you add one accent fabric and one border fabric to the strip set to create one large quilt and one small quilt. The 12 quilts are all based on the original 6 Bali Pops sets (Kiwi, Strawberry, Mulberry, Mint Chip, Sherbert and Butterscotch). The Strip Therapy Bali Pop Dynamic Duos book sells for $20.00

Bali Bath - Rug and Wastebasket pattern
Here's another Bali Pops based pattern that utilizes clothesline to create some interesting projects - this time it is home decor. The Bali Bath pattern ($9.98) includes instructions for both a rug and a wastebasket. They've used the Green Tea Bali Pop strip set for the rug and wastebasket shown on their pattern cover. (Did you see their Bali Bag pattern and or Mint Chip Bali Bag model shown at the top of the page? It uses the same fabric covered clothesline technique.)
